Winterlandschaft gestern Nachmittag
Liebe Tanzende
Obwohl ich es liebe im Schnee zu tanzen und es so wundervoll war gestern
unter dem Wintersternenhimmel am Feuer, reisen wir
morgen Abend zum Ecstatic Dance Bern und ich freue mich auf eine neue Welle
bei diesen wunderbaren Menschen.
Ralph, Regina und ich waren schon ein-, zweimal dabei, haben uns sehr wohl
gefühlt und die Tanzreise voll ausgekostet.
Wer Lust hat dabei zu sein, wir nehmen hier den halb acht Zug bis ins
Liebefeld und laufen dann zu den Vidmarhallen. Da der Tanz drinnen ist,
können viele Winter Kleiderschichten abgelegt werden. Der Eintritt beträgt
30.- Unterstützer / 25.- Normalpreis oder 20.- Studenten.
Ach und die Sterne in unserem Universum sind wieder einmal voll in ihrem
Element und unterstützen unsere Reise hin zu mehr Selbstermächtigung und
Verbundenheit mit allem. Doch es kann wie immer, wenn die Sterne uns
unterstützen, auch ganz schön herausfordernd werden, wenn ich mich weigere,
meine Selbstverantwortung wahrzunehmen.

Dance Church
*‘Januarloch’*
In Switzerland there is a word used to describe the period of time after
Christmas and New Year: It’s called the “Januarloch”, one English
translation for which could be ‘January Blues’. DWDS (Digitales Wörterbuch
der deutschen Sprache) defines this – mainly Swiss term – as the “Period in
January when hardly any events take place, few visitors come or (almost)
nothing interesting and important happens.”
Depressing, right?
And, even as I’m sitting at my dining room table this morning, staring at
the grey skies of Hinterkappelen and the frost covered grass on my backyard
lawn, I do feel a bit like the frost covered trees in January at Great
Smoky Mountains State Park in the picture above: a little in the fog, heavy
from too much food and drink, lethargic from too little movement and – well
– yes – ‘blue’!
Luckily, I don’t have much time to give in to this feeling. Too many things
to do, because at Ecstatic Dance Bern- Dance Church events ARE taking
place, visitors ARE expected and INTERESTING AND IMPORTANT things will
happen in our dance together. And there’s no better way to shake off the
lethargy and blues than to MOVE.
Just show up!

*Dances in January*
Here is your January line up of Ecstatic Dance facilitators, all dedicated
to holding the space and providing the music to MOVE YOU – joyfully into
the New Year.
Padma Sam (AKA Robb Correll) will be playing on the *7th (Saturday
Ecstatic) *and the* 29th of January (Sunday Dance Church)*. Robb is
co-founder of Ecstatic Dance Bern and brings all his knowledge and skill as
classically trained musician (vocal performance), theologian (liz.Theo),
theater and musical theater director and years of practice in conscious
movement and conscious movement facilitation to creating Ecstatic Dance
journeys structured on ‘The Hero’s Journey’.
Every journey is an opportunity for transformation!

On the *15th of January *ATEMA (AKA Janis Schneider) will return to play
for us after a long break. Janis is committed to creating spaces in which
dancers – fully present to themselves and others – can explore new ways of
moving, feeling and interacting. Coming from techno and house music he
loves the possibilities and diversity of ecstatic dance and builds journeys
designed to move dancers through all different kinds of emotions.

On the *21st of January* we are very pleased to have DJ Josty (AKA Joel
Koenig) back in the house. With a solid electro-house and deep-house base
and influences from Disco, Nu-Disco and 80s New Wave, Josty brings subtle
changes in styles yet always remains true to the groove. His energetic,
often offbeat performances make him a powerhouse DJ highly popular on the
dance floor. In 2017, after years as a successful nightlife and club DJ, he
decided to bring all his knowledge and skill into service of the conscious
movement community and founded our sister organisation, Ecstatic Dance
Lausanne.
